How to Copy a Section in Adobe Illustrator

,
Images created in Adobe's Illustrator graphics software are made up of objects. An object in an Illustrator image could contain a textual element, for example, or a company's logo. If you want to use a certain section of an Illustrator image more than once in the same project, make a copy of the section instead of recreating it from scratch. You can then repeat the process to make as many copies of the section as you need.

Instructions

    • 1
Launch Adobe Illustrator. Open the image containing the section that you want to copy.
    • 2
Click the "Selection Tool" icon in the Illustrator toolbar. Click and drag the cursor to draw a rectangle that encompasses the section of the image you want to copy.
    • 3
Press "Ctrl" and "C" simultaneously to copy the selected section of the image to the clipboard.
    • 4
Press "Ctrl" and "V" simultaneously to paste a copy of the section into the image. Click and drag the copied section to its desired position in the Illustrator image.
