How to Import EPS to AutoCAD

EPS files from image editing programs can be opened in AutoCAD, but they must first be converted to PDF files, and those PDF files must then be converted to DXF files. There are several free online conversion sites that you can use to perform the EPS to PDF conversion, and there are several other sites that you can use to convert the PDF file to a DXF file. Once you have opened the DXF file in AutoCAD and performed the necessary edits, the file can then be saved as a DXF, or it can be exported back to the PDF format.


Instructions

      Open a Web browser window, and then navigate to a conversion site that supports the EPS to PDF conversion. There are several options, including Zamzar, ConvertFiles and Go2Convert.

      Click the "Upload" or "Browse" button, and then double-click your EPS file to upload the file that you want to convert.

      Click the "PDF" option from the list of available file output types. Depending upon the file conversion site you have chosen, you may also need to provide an email address to which the conversion site can send a download link containing your converted file.

      Click the "Convert" button.

      Click the provided link, and then save the file to your computer. If you were asked to provide an email address, you will need to sign in to your email account, click the email message form your file conversion site, and then click the provided link to save the file to your computer.

      Open a Web browser window, and then navigate to a PDF to DXF online conversion site. The sites that are capable of performing this conversion are CometDocs and PDFtoDXF.

      Click the "Browse" or "Upload" button to locate your PDF file, and then click "Open" to upload the file.

      Click the "DXF" file output option from the list of available file output types.

      Type an email address into the "Email" field. You will need to access this email address shortly, as the file conversion site will send you a link from where your converted file can be downloaded.

      Click the "Convert" button.

      Log in to the account for the email address that you just provided, open the message from your chosen file conversion site, and then click the provided link to save the file to your computer.

      Launch AutoCAD.

      Click "File" at the top of the window, and then click "Open."

      Double-click the converted DXF file that you just downloaded.

      Use the tools in the toolbox at the top of the window to perform your necessary edits.

      Click "File" at the top of the window, and then click "Save" to save the file in the DXF file format. If you wish to export the file back to the PDF format, click the "AutoCAD" icon at the top-left corner of the window, click "Export," and then click "PDF."
