osCommerce is an open-source program designed to allow people to host and develop their own online stores. If you would like to use a text editor to edit the coding on your osCommerce software package, there are a few text editors compatible with the program. Once implemented, you will be able to edit the text.

1. WYSIWYG

   • A staple of HTML text editing, What You See Is What You Get is compatible with the osCommerce software on your store. WYSIWYG is also open source, so you do not have to buy it online. You can download the WYSIWYG text editor from multiple places online. Log into your osCommerce home page to implement the software into your store through the “Add Ons” section.

   TextMaster

   • TextMaster is another HTML text editor compatible with the osCommerce software. This is just a text editor, but it gives you the ability to interface with your osCommerce software. This editor is also available online, so you don’t have to pay for it. Download the editor and then use the “Add Ons” in osCommerce to add the editor to your program.

   Notepad

   • Notepad is on the most basic computer programs on the Windows operating system. Every version of Windows comes with this text editor. Many people wrote their first programs on Notepad, and your osCommerce HTML can be edited through it, too. Click the “Start” button and then click on the “Programs” icon. Click on the “Notepad” icon to load the program. Copy and paste your HTML into the Notepad to edit it.

   TextEdit

   • TextEdit is a text editor found on Apple operating systems. This HTML text editor works the same way as Notepad. Click the “Application” icon on your desktop and then click on the “TextEdit” icon to load the program. Copy and paste your HTML into the editor to edit the coding.
