How to Convert Triangles to Quads in 3D Studio Max

,
The edge faces of a project in 3D Studio Max, which is now known as 3ds Max, appear as triangles or quads. Some of the functions in 3ds Max work based on the type and number of the edge faces. You may not achieve your desired result when using one of the functions if the edge faces are triangles and not quads. You can convert the triangles to quads using the Quadify Mesh feature.

Instructions

    • 1
Open your project in 3ds Max and select the object you want to transform.
    • 2
Press F4 to see the edge faces, which appear as triangles.
    • 3
Click the "Modifier List" drop-down menu on the right side of the screen to reveal a list of options to modify your project.
    • 4
Select "Quadify Mesh." The triangles change to quads.
    • 5
Click the "Quad Size %" box on the right side of the screen and enter a different number to change the number of quads in your project. Higher numbers result in fewer quads, while lower numbers increase the number of quads.
