You can use the document
templates included with Microsoft Office OneNote 2010 to create a
personal or business to-do list organized by due date or task priority.
Configure OneNote to load automatically when you start your computer and
launch with a keyboard shortcut to make your to-do list easily
accessible whenever you are at your computer. Create a new page in a
OneNote notebook using a generic to-do template to compile a list of the
tasks that you need to complete.

Press the Windows logo key simultaneously with "Shift" and "N" to display the main OneNote window. Alternatively, launch OneNote from the Start menu in Microsoft Office.

Click the purple "File" tab in the upper left corner of the OneNote 2010 window and then click "New."

Select "My Computer" in the Store Notebook On: field.

Type "To-Do List" or another descriptive title in the Name field.

Click the "Create Notebook" button to create the new notebook. Then, click the name of the notebook on the left side of the OneNote window.

Click the arrow next to the "New Page" button in the upper right corner of the window. Click "Page Templates."

Click the triangle next to "Planners" to expand the category.

Click "Simple To Do List" to create a to-do list consisting of items and check boxes that you can select after completing tasks. If you select this list type, you must enter the due date on each line along with the description of the task.

Click "Prioritized To Do List" to create a to-do list displayed in three columns according to priority. By default, the columns on this version of the list are labeled "High Priority," "Medium Priority" and "Low Priority." Change the column titles if desired to reflect the due dates of the items on your list.

Click "Project To Do List" to create a to-do list organized in groups according to the names of different projects. With this list, the names of the list items are already filled in, such as "Planning" and "Preparation." Use the "Notes" section on the right side of the list to enter the due dates for different items.
