iPhoto puts photo editing into the hands of everyone, even beginning photographers. Though the program doesn't have some of the more powerful capabilities of professional photo editing software, it does allow for the editing of brightness, hue, saturation and other basic elements. If a photo has too much light, for instance, iPhoto lets you darken it with a simple command. To learn how to use iPhoto, play around with it, opening photos, adjusting them and experimenting with the program's various tools.
Instructions
- 1Open iPhoto and find the photo you want to edit by clicking on "Photos" in the menu on the left of the screen. This brings up various albums, which are collections of photos sorted by date and title. Find the image you want to darken and double-click on it to open it for editing.
- 2Click "Edit" on the bottom right-hand corner of the iPhoto screen. A pencil serves as the icon by the Edit button. Clicking this button brings up a set of commands and options along the right side of the screen. In the menu in the upper-right part of the screen, click on the button that says "Effects," which brings up a set of selections for lightening, darkening, changing saturation and other editing options.
- 3Click on the black circle that says "Darken." Each time you click on this circle, the image darkens slightly. Continue clicking until the photo is as dark as you want. If you darken it too much, click on the white circle that says "Lighten." Continue adjusting the photo until it has the brightness you want. Double-click on the photo to exit the editing mode and save your changes.
