How to Make a Debate Poster

,
Debates are meant to be a forum where voters can learn how the candidates feel about certain issues and handle the pressure of on-the-spot conversation with their opponents. One of the key ingredients to organizing a debate is getting the word out to the public about the event. Posters are a great way to be about to let the public know about an upcoming debate.

Instructions

    • 1
Display prominently on the poster the specifics of the debate. This includes the names of people participating in the debate, where the debate will be and when. Let this information be the foundation of the poster by displaying it in a simple, bold font in a primary color. Make the font large enough that people can read it from a few feet away.
    • 2
Add political affiliation, seat that is being sought and who is the incumbent. This information is important but secondary. The font should be smaller with a lighter color. For instance, if you used black for the information in Step 1, use gray for this information.
    • 3
Work in photographs of the candidates if possible, depending on the number of candidates. Posters with visuals tend to work better in terms of getting people to look at them than those that do not have visuals. Make sure the size of the candidate's photos are the same and that they are displayed in equal fashion.
    • 4
Include information about who is sponsoring the debate and a little about why the debate is being held, in terms of the issues that will be discussed.
    • 5
Edit the poster to make sure the information is correct. Have another person familiar with the debate edit it.
