Posters are often awkward to store due to their size and the relatively
thin paper they are printed on. Cardboard makes a perfect storage medium
as it is stiff but can still be cut without specialized tools. You can
make poster cases from cardboard. Long lengths of cardboard are also
readily available, and even in large sizes the cardboard remains fairly
light.

1
Measure the poster you want to
store. Add 2 inches to the length and width, and cut two pieces of
cardboard to those measurements.
-
2
Line one side of each cardboard
piece with acid-free archival paper. This paper will protect the
contents of the case from yellowing or other damage from acids in the
cardboard. Use archival glue to stick the archival paper to the
cardboard. Line the entire surface of one side of each piece. Let the
glue dry.
-
3
Put the two pieces of cardboard
together with the paper-lined sides facing inward. Tape the two short
sides and one long side of the cardboard pieces together with the cloth
tape.
-
4
Paint the outside of the cardboard poster case with spray paint if desired to give the case a finished look.
