Creating a successful publicity campaign can be a strenuous, long
process. Catching the eye of individuals who are already bombarded on a
daily basis by numerous advertising campaigns can prove to be
challenging. By designing a well-organized, effective poster, however, a
promoter has a much better chance of gaining the public's attention. By
following a few basic concepts, an event organizer can create an
attention-grabbing pageant poster.

- Image creation software

1
Compile all of the information
you plan on including in your poster. Possible items for inclusion could
be a unique, catchy slogan for the pageant, the date and time it will
take place, the location where it will be held and the name of the
organizers. Before beginning the design process, it is important to have
a clear idea of what you want to incorporate into the layout.
-
2
Open your preferred image
creation program on your computer. Programs such as Adobe Photoshop,
Corel Draw and GIMP offer a variety of imaging and page layout tools you
can use to design your flyer. If you do not wish to use a computer to
create the poster, the subsequent information is still relevant.
-
3
Determine what color and font
scheme you want to use for your pageant poster. A unified, clean
approach to design will be far more effective than a disjointed,
fragmented assembly of contrasting colors and font selections.
-
4
Configure the size of your
document within the page layout settings of your design program. A
tabloid-sized document works well for creating posters that are large
enough to grab attention but still small enough to post in public
places. As you will probably attempt to advertise your pageant in public
places, this page configuration is ideal. Tabloid size documents
measure 17-by-11 inches.
-
5
Add a simple, attractive image
to your poster that best defines the nature and style of your pageant.
This visual element contrasts nicely with the text on the page and helps
hold your audience's attention.
-
6
Add the text to your page,
arranging each item in a way so the most prominent details catch the eye
first. For example, centrally align the title of your pageant in a
large, capitalized font at the top of the page. Consider group details
such as time, event location and ticket price together so the reader can
find all of the logistical information immediately.
