A file with the extension PMD is a document created with Adobe PageMaker, a desktop publishing program. PageMaker is a program for the creation of professional documents such as publications, print advertisements and product brochures. Although PageMaker 7 is a commercial product, the trial version allows you to open PMD files for up to 30 days before you must purchase the full version. Download and install the PageMaker 7 trial to open a document in the PMD format.
Instructions
- 1Navigate to the page on Adobe's website for PageMaker 7 and click the "Download Free Trial" link on the right side of the page.
- 2Enter your email address and password if you have an Adobe.com account. If you haven't created an account, click the "Create an Adobe account" button and provide the requested information including your name, desired password and email address. Click the "Continue" button at the bottom of the page when you are finished. This brings you to a new page titled "Download PageMaker."
- 3Select your language and operating system on the drop-down menu and click the "Download" button. Save the file "PM701Tryout.exe" to the desktop.
- 4Double-click the file "PM701Tryout.exe" on the desktop when the download is complete. After a moment, a window titled "Adobe PageMaker 7.0.1 Trial Setup" appears. Click "Next."
- 5Select the radio button corresponding with your primary language and click "Next." The installation utility requires you to repeat this step and select a language in which to view the license agreement. Select a language and click "Next" again.
- 6Click the "Accept" button to accept the Adobe PageMaker license agreement and continue.
- 7Click the "Browse" button to select a destination folder for Adobe PageMaker or click "Next" to use the default destination of "C:\Program Files\Adobe\PageMaker 7.0 Tryout."
- 8Click "Next" to install PageMaker using the settings you selected. After a moment, the utility displays the message "Setup is complete." Click "Finish" and "OK."
- 9Open the Start menu and click "All Programs," "Adobe," "PageMaker 7.0 Tryout" and "Adobe PageMaker 7.0 Tryout." Windows launches Adobe PageMaker.
- 10Click the "Try" button to proceed with the free trial.
- 11Click the "File" menu in the upper-left corner of the screen and select "Open." Double-click the PMD file to view it in PageMaker 7.
