Tracking Curves in ArchiCAD

,
ArchiCAD is software produced by Graphisoft for creating building and modeling information. This allows engineers and architects to use the program to determine safe solutions for any problems encountered when designing a road, building or any other structure. Tracking curves in ArchiCAD is mostly used in road building to make sure the road has the proper curve to handle various types of vehicles.

  1. Enriched Architectural Forms

    • ArchiCAD allows you to track how the curve of a building will affect the overall integrity of the structure. As you study the components of the structure, you can adjust various pieces to come up with the ideal solution of design and safety. The tracking program even comes up with suggestions for curve solutions if your desired curvature is not ideal for the overall building itself. This gives you more freedom when designing buildings.

    Design Space

    • The program also allows you to track usable space when you are designing various curves in a structure. This can help if you are laying out a building that you want to have an unusual look but extensive practical space. The curvature also plays a huge role in designing things like theater space, where the sound layout is just as important as the structural integrity. The curvature program can help you plan for maximum acoustic integrity.

    Safety for Roads

    • ArchiCAD allows you to test various road configurations with speed and size of vehicles. The program runs a series of tests to determine the best curvature for all the vehicles as well as the needed embankment to keep the vehicles traveling safely forward. By working the program, you can determine the exact building materials and work that needs to be done prior to the project starting. This might make you change the path of the road or alter the placement of curves to maximize safety and speed.

    Terrain Parks

    • As designing takes on multiple meanings, there are always new things to tackle. Projects like snowboard parks, skate parks and even playgrounds are utilizing curves for safety and fun. The ArchiCAD system lets you test all the different effects on any structure, such as gravity and momentum. This is particularly important when planning for the liability of some of the more challenging terrain parks designed.
