How to Open an ASD File

,
ASD is a file format used by Microsoft Word 2010 to automatically save any changes that you make to a .DOC or .DOCX document. This file serves as a backup in case the document that you are working on crashes unexpectedly. ASD files are normally saved to a special directory within your Windows 7 user account. If you have an ASD file that you would like to view, you can use Microsoft Word 2010 to open it.

Instructions

    • 1
      Open Microsoft Word.
    • 2
Click the “File” tab on the upper left side of the Microsoft Word 2010 window.
    • 3
      Select the option labeled “Open.”
    • 4
Browse to the directory containing the ASD file. If you cannot see the ASD file, click the button next to the File Name field and select “All Files (*.*).”
    • 5
Select the ASD file and click the "Open" button.
