A CSD or Compact Shared Document file is a temporary file created during the backup process in Microsoft SharePoint Server 2007. If the original backup file becomes lost or corrupted, you can still retrieve the information through the CSD file. You must have a local installation of Microsoft SharePoint Server 2007 to open a CSD file.

- 1Right-click the file, select Open With and click Choose Default Program.
- 2Click the “Browse” button.
- 3Select Microsoft SharePoint from the list of available programs and click “Open.”
