How to Add a Socket to an Item in "World of Warcraft"

In the online role-playing game "World of Warcraft," players can upgrade certain weapons and types of armor by using attribute-enhancing gems in the item's sockets. If you want to add sockets to items, blacksmithing must be one of your character's professions. When your blacksmithing skill reaches a certain level, you can add a socket to gloves and bracers, but the items are considered soulbound, meaning that they can only be used by your character. Blacksmiths can also craft an Eternal Belt Buckle, which allows any character to permanently add a socket to a belt.

Instructions

1. Blacksmithing

     Learn blacksmithing as one of your professions in the game; you can learn it at any level from a blacksmithing trainer in any of your faction's cities. Create enough items to raise your skill level to 400. At this point, you must be at least Level 65, and you should have achieved the title of "Grand Master."

     Speak to a blacksmithing trainer and learn the abilities Socket Bracer and Socket Gloves. Open the blacksmithing window and select "Socket Bracer" and "Socket Gloves." Click the item in your inventory to which you want to add the socket and confirm that you want to add a socket to the item. Adding a socket consumes four Strong Fluxes, which you can purchase from a blacksmithing supplies vendor.

     Raise your blacksmithing skill level to 415 and speak to a trainer to learn to make an Eternal Belt Buckle. Gather the items required to craft the buckle: four Saronite bars, one Eternal Earth, one Eternal Shadow and one Eternal Water. Open the blacksmithing profession window and click "Eternal Belt Buckle" to craft the buckle.

   Using the Eternal Belt Buckle

     Obtain an Eternal Belt Buckle. Blacksmiths can craft one when they reach a skill level of 415; non-blacksmiths can purchase one from the Auction House or through a private transaction in trade chat.

     Right-click the Eternal Belt Buckle in your inventory.

     Click the belt to which you want to add the buckle and confirm that you want to use the buckle on the belt. The belt must be Level 300 or lower and becomes soulbound after attaching the Eternal Belt Buckle.
