On Monster Cable Products’ Cl QuickLock Nickel Series connectors featuring nickel exteriors and “Monster Cable” labels, users can swap the silicone band located beneath the label with a different colored band in red, blue, green, white or yellow. People usually change connector colors for organization reasons such as creating a reminder of a cable’s purpose or for connector identification. As the bands are flexible and resist cracking, changing colors is simply a matter of stretching each band slightly for fast removal and replacement.
Instructions
- 1Disconnect the Monster Cable connector with the band you want to change from the hardware it’s attached to. Skip this step if the connector isn’t attached to a device or you’re dealing with a connector not yet attached to a cable.
- 2Position the connector for removal of the band. If the connector is attached to a cable, point the end of the connector down so that the band is positioned above rather than beneath the “Monster Cable” label. Once you position the connector, the label text is upside down and the bottom of the band points up. If the connector isn't attached, point the end of the connector up.
- 3Remove the band. If the connector is attached to a cable, press the edge of your fingernail along the bottom edge of the band, pry the band away from the connector and then roll it off the end. If the connector isn't attached, slide your fingernail into the seam along the top of the band, pry the band away from the connector and then roll the band down off the bottom. When you’re finished, set the band aside.
- 4Install the new band on the connector. If the connector is attached to a cable, hold it in one hand with the end pointing up. If it's not attached, hold it with the bottom pointing up. Pick up the new colored band and stretch it carefully down over the connector until you have it positioned in the spot where the original band rested.
