The StatCrunch website allows subscribers to enter and analyze data sets entered by you or other users. You can create a variety of graphs to visualize your data, including box plots. A box plot summarizes the data set by displaying the highest and lowest values, the median value and the upper and lower quartiles. Use a box plot to find outliers in your data set.
Instructions
- 1Navigate to the StatCrunch website and log in to your account.
- 2Click "My Data" and select the set of data that you want to analyze.
- 3Click the "Graphics" box at the top of your data and select "Boxplot." A window labeled "Boxplot" appears on the screen with a list of all of your data columns in the "Select Column" window.
- 4Select the column name that has the data you want to use to create the box plot. The name of the column appears in the blank window next to the "Select Columns" window.
- 5Click "Next" to continue.
- 6Click the box next to "Use Fences to Identify Outliers" so that you can view the outliers in your data. You can also view the box plot horizontally instead of vertically by clicking "Draw Boxes Horizontally."
- 7Click "Next" and fill out the information for the X axis, Y axis and a title for the box plot. You are not required to enter this information.
- 8Click "Create Graph" to create the box plot in StatCrunch.
