An IMVU voice box is an invisible accessory for an avatar to wear and contains triggers linked to sounds. Whenever a trigger word is typed in the chat, the corresponding sound will play. Voice boxes you create can then be purchased by other IMVU users through the IMVU catalog, earning you credits. Creating voice boxes, like creating any other product, requires you to have purchased your avatar name on IMVU and signed up as a content creator.
Instructions
- 1Identify the sound files you want to use. You can use sounds and voices from your favorite movie, TV show or song, or create your own by recording your own voice.
- 2Open each file in the sound editing program.
- 3Ensure each file is 20 seconds or below in duration. IMVU limits all sounds in catalog items to a maximum duration of 20 seconds. If necessary, you can trim files using the sound editing program.
- 4Save each file in the OGG format. IMVU only accepts sounds in this format.
- 5Launch your browser, open the IMVU website and navigate to the product catalog.
- 6Perform a search for "voice box tutorial" or similar search terms to find an empty voice box from which you can derive your own.
- 7Click the "Derive from product" link on the product page for the voice box you are deriving from. This will open the4 "Create" mode in the IMVU client.
- 8Select the "Actions" tab. If the voice box you derived from already has actions in it, click the "Remove Action" button for each action until all of them have been deleted.
- 9Click the "Add" button to create a new, empty action.
- 10Type the trigger word you want to use for your first sound in the text box labeled "Trigger." If you want to be able to use multiple trigger words for a single sound, you can add all of them in a single text box, separating each of them with a comma and a space. For example:"hello, hi, howdy"
- 11Click the "Add OGG" button, navigate to the location where you saved your sound files and double-click on the sound you want to associate with the triggers.
- 12Click the "Apply Changes" button and press the "Play" button to test your sound.
- 13Repeat the process from step 9 to step 12 for all other sounds you want to add to your voice box.
- 14Click the "Save" button to save your finished voice box.
- 15Click the "Upload" button to upload your finished voice box to the IMVU catalog.
