Arbortext Editor is a publishing software program developed and distributed by PTC, The Product Development Company. With the program, you use regular text, as well as XML, or Extensible Markup Language, code to create and style your digital content. To make using the Arbortext Editor easier, you can customize a few attributes according to your personal preference.
Instructions
- 1Open the Arbortext Editor program on your computer. Click “Tools” from the top navigation menu. Select “Preferences.” A list of categories appears on the left side panel. These categories allow you to customize how the editor appears and functions.
- 2Click the “Colors” category to change the color of your code tags, regular text color and object boundaries. To choose a color, click the drop-down menu beside the attribute you wish to change.
- 3Click the “Edit” category to customize text editing preferences. For instance, if you want Arbortext to automatically correct misspelled words, click the radio box labeled “Autocorrect Text as You Type.” If you want your typed words to overrule word suggestions, click the radio box labeled “Typing Replaces Selection.”
- 4Click the “Save” category to customize how your documents are saved. For example, you can select the option to automatically create backup recovery files of your work and specify the frequency with which you want backups to be created.
- 5Click the “Spelling” category to customize how the spell checker operates. For instance, configure the editor to automatically check words as you type. You can also configure the spell checker to ignore tags during the spell check.
- 6Click the “View” category to customize the view of your Arbortext Editor. For example, to make text larger in the editor, increase the “Font Scaling” percentage.
- 7Click the “Window” category to customize the appearance of your cursor. You can also select the option to automatically save your work each time the Arbortext Editor window is closed.
- 8Click “OK” to save and apply all of the changes to your preferences.
