Once you have set up a personal blog on Tumblr, publish pictures, music, videos or text to your site whenever you wish. Depending on the type of post you are creating, add a box for text, images, sound clips or movie clips. Tumblr is designed to allow you to insert text boxes with new posts quickly and simply from your Dashboard. Decide what you want to write, type it into the appropriate box and publish.
Instructions
- 1Sign in to your Tumblr account and go to your Dashboard. Look at the row of post options at the top of the page. Click "Text" if you want a basic text box, or click "Quote" if you want to post a quotation specifically.
- 2Fill in the "Title" box with the title of the post for this text box, then write the text for your text box in the "Post" field. If you are posting a quotation, type or paste it into the "Quote" box, and identify the quote's source in the "Source" box beneath it.
- 3Select the publishing option you want from the drop-down menu on the right. This allows you to choose whether to publish the text box immediately, save it as a draft, keep it private or publish it at a later date. If you chose to publish later, input the date you want to publish the text box in the "Post Date" box.
- 4Type the link for the source of your material, if relevant, in the "Content Source" box. List topics in the "Tag" box that relate to your text, so your text box will appear in a search for these topics.
- 5Click the "Create Post" button at the bottom-left of the page. This publishes the text box to your blog.
