Slow-blow glass fuses are integral to electronics and appliances. Of these, 6.3 amp, 250-V, replaceable tube-style fuses have either clear or opaque white cylinders, which affect how easy it is to determine whether one is blown at a glance. However, the fuse's critical role in making appliances work should cause you to examine the fuse first if your appliance stops functioning for any reason.
Instructions
- 1Unplug the unresponsive device from the AC power outlet.
- 2Remove the Philips or Torx screws securing the top or side panel of the device to the remainder of the chassis. Pull the top or side panel off the unit and examine the glass fuses.
- 3Look for smoky or black coloration inside the clear glass body of the fuse. If the body of the fuse has a white or almond colored body, pull the fuse and replace it with another using the fuse pullers.
- 4Snap a new fuse into the metal "C" shaped brackets. Replace the top or panel of the unit. Plug in the device and test for normal operation.
