How to Troubleshoot a Pandigital Portable Photo Slide Film Scanner

,

After being in use for a while, the quality output of your Pandigital scanner may not be as crisp as it once was. Lines may appear on the scanned picture, the filmstrip may not rotate or the original may get stuck in the feed slot. You won't need outside help for these and a few other common issues to get the scanner running as good as new again.

Instructions

    • 1
Wipe off any stains on the original if the scanned picture is unclear or lines appear on it.
    • 2
Verify that you placed the original inside the plastic sheath before scanning if distortion still occurs.
    • 3
Clean the roller if distortion still occurs. Press the "Power" button and hold it down for six seconds, then release it. Insert the scanner cleaning sheet. Wait until the Status/Card indicator lights stop blinking before using the scanner again. Store the cleaning sheet in a safe and dust-free place.
    • 4
Clean the image sensor if distortion still occurs. Turn the scanner off and unplug it from the outlet. Slide the sensor cleaning swab slowly, but gently, from the left to the right of the scanner input area. Repeat five more times, ending with the sensor cleaning swab on the left side. Remove it from the slot, and then store it in a safe and dust-free place.
    • 5
Insert the calibration card if distortion still occurs. The scanner will automatically calibrate.
    • 6
Re-scan the filmstrip if the image doesn't rotate correctly.
    • 7
Press the "Power" button if the original gets stuck halfway in the feed slot. Watch for the films to be ejected out of the rear of the scanner and the photos out of the front.
    • 8
Re-insert the memory card into the slot if the scanner turns itself off suddenly, cannot scan, or the status indicator blinks quickly. Slide the memory card's "Write-Protect" or "Lock/Unlock" tab to the "Unlock/Off" position. Check that you waited until the previous original was finished scanning before inserting another one if problems still occur. Power off the scanner, turn it back on again and then try to rescan.
    • 9
Check that the original type is compatible with the scanner. Suitable original types include business cards with a maximum of 1.0 millimeter in thickness; 35 millimeter negatives, up to 6 frames with 35 millimeter Negative adapter; and 3.5-by-5 inch and 4-by-6 inch photos, up to a 4.1-by-12 inch maximum size.
    • 10
Delete photos on the memory card if the status indicator continues to blink. Check that the format is FAT or FAT 32 type. Replace the memory card with a new one if the status indicator continues to blink.
