When you create an image on your computer with the Fireworks application, you can make a printout. People use Fireworks to develop digital images for websites, smartphones, kiosks and other electronic displays. Your design process may require you to make printouts for people to examine before the images go online. Fireworks was developed by Macromedia, and now is sold and supported by Adobe.
Using Fireworks
- Fireworks enables you to design interfaces for websites, cellphones and applications, as well as create images to use online. Fireworks is available as a standalone application, or as part of Adobe’s Creative Suite of applications. You can use Fireworks to make vector and bitmap images, as well as modify images that you import from other graphics applications, such as Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator.
Page Setup
- If you want to make a printout of your Fireworks file, you can configure the printing settings beforehand. Click “File” from the Fireworks menu, and then click “Page Setup.” Click the various options to choose paper size, such as “US Letter” or “US Legal.” You can set the image orientation, so your Fireworks document prints out horizontally in landscape orientation or in vertical orientation. You can also adjust the scale of the document, such as 200 percent if you want to see an enlarged view of your file.
- When you need to see a printout of your Fireworks image, click “File” from the Fireworks menu at the top of the application window, and then click “Print.” The printer dialog box appears. Click the options to select what printer you want to use if you have multiple printers connected to your computer. For example, you may need to switch to your color printer if the currently selected printer is only used for printing black and white text documents. Click “Print” to print your Fireworks document.
Considerations
- If you are using Fireworks to develop images for people to view online, do not rely on looking at a printout alone to evaluate your Fireworks project. For example, if your Fireworks project has pop-up menus or buttons that the user needs to click, you won’t be able to fully see these aspects in a static printout.
