High Vector Art in an EPS Format

,

Digital artwork provides a colorful visual experience that highlights your text and content online and in professional documents. Because images are important for illustrating topics and catching a reader’s eye, you should provide attractive and high-quality art to accent your work. Vector artwork in EPS format provides crisp images for digital platforms, such as websites and blogs, as well as printed documents.

  1. About Vector Art

    • Vector art is a type of digital image that is created by drawing mathematical paths and points to produce crisp, high-quality images. Unlike rasterized images that are made of pixels and dots, vector artwork can be re-sized and altered without becoming pixelated or distorted. This makes vector art ideal for projects that require high quality images in an onscreen digital display or for digital art that will be printed to traditional media.

    Vector Art Programs

    • Not all graphic art programs can create vector artwork. While programs like Photoshop do have some vector tools, you must have specific programs that specialize in creating vector images to create artwork in the EPS format. These programs include Adobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW, Freehand and Macromedia Flash. When you draw images using these art programs, they automatically become vector images, which you can save as a variety of image formats.

    About EPS Format

    • The Encapsulated PostScript (EPS) format is an image file type that can include either bitmap or vector graphics. The EPS is a PostScript document that can contain an image, text, or even another EPS document, within it. It usually displays a small thumbnail image that describes the content that the EPS contains. This file format is supported by many graphic art programs and even programs like Microsoft Word.

    Saving EPS Format

    • You can save a vector graphic in the EPS format directly from a vector art program, such as Adobe Illustrator or CorelDRAW. When you choose the “Save” command from the File menu, select the EPS format from the file type drop-down box. If you have a vector image in a different file format, such as JPG, you can also convert the file to EPS using online conversion programs and websites, such as Image Converter Plus and Online Convert.
