How to Compile VOB Files After Ripping With the Mac Ripper

,
MacTheRipper is a free backup program that rips and saves an exact copy of a DVD's file and folder contents and structure to your computer. A DVD's main video contents, VOBs, stored in the standard "Video_TS" folder, can be compiled and converted to a single disk image file using your Mac's Disk Utility application to save to your computer or burn to blank DVD-Rs or DVD-RWs. You must first create a DVD/CD Master ISO image in Disk Utility before compiling and saving your ripped DVD files or burning them to disc.

Instructions

Things You'll Need

  • Blank DVD-R or DVD-RW (Optional)
    • 1
Open a new Finder window, click the "Applications" tab on the left side of the screen and scroll down to your "Utilities" folder. Double-click its icon and open "Disk Utility."
    • 2
Click the "New Image" tab at the top of the screen to enter the Create New Image dialogue box. Enter a name for your image in the "Save As" field and choose a save location for your disk image.
    • 3
Click the "Volume Size" drop-down box and choose the "4.6 GB (DVD-R)" or "8.3 GB (DVD-R)" option, depending on the size of your ripped DVD's contents.
    • 4
Click the "Partitions" drop-down box and choose "Single Partition - CD/DVD with ISO Data." Press the "Image Format" drop-down box and select the "DVD/CD Master" option.
    • 5
Press the "Create" button in the lower-right corner of Disk Utility and wait for the program to create a new blank disc image and mount it in Finder. This may take several minutes. Close Disk Utility.
    • 6
Open a new Finder window and click on the newly created disk image icon. Open a second Finder window and navigate to the "Video_TS" folder location used by MacTheRipper to save your VOB files. Drag and drop the "Video_TS" folder containing your VOB files directly into the new disk image Finder window. Wait for the files to copy.
    • 7
Navigate back to the Disk Utility window to burn your image to disc. Highlight your new image and click the "Burn" button at the top of the screen. Insert a blank DVD-R or DVD-RW when prompted by Disk Utility and wait for your compiled files to burn.
