Whether you want to watch your personal video recordings on your computer, upload them online or burn them to DVD, you can transfer your Advanced Video Coding High Definition files, or AVCHD, from your HD camcorder or digital camera to your PC by using a USB cable. Most HD camcorders and digital cameras come with a USB cable. If the accessory was not included with your device, you can purchase a compatible USB cord online.
Instructions
- 1Turn on the HD camcorder or digital camera. Connect the supplied USB cable to the USB port on the digital camera or camcorder and to a USB port on your computer. Windows will recognize the device automatically and the “AutoPlay” dialog box will appear.
- 2Click the “Open Folder to View Files” option in the “AutoPlay” window. The Windows Explorer window will open and your device’s main media folder will be displayed.
- 3Double-click the device’s main media folder. A list of photo and video files will be displayed in the Windows Explorer window. AVCHD files bear the MTS file extension.
- 4Select the MTS files you want to transfer to your computer. To select multiple video files, press and hold the “Ctrl” button on your keyboard and use your mouse to select each individual file.
- 5Click and drag the selected MTS files to the “Videos” folder, located in the Windows Explorer navigation pane on the left side of the screen. The videos will be transferred and saved to your PC’s “Videos” folder automatically.
