How to Make a Felt CalendarthumbnailFelt calendars are simple to make and can save you money because they are reusable every year. You can remove and reapply calendar dates over and over again to fit any month of the year, including leap years. Create a one-of-a-kind felt calendar by choosing from various sizes, colors and themes. Even special occasions and holidays can be displayed on the homemade calendar.

Instructions

Things You'll Need

  • Cork bulletin board
  • Staple gun
  • 28-inch by 40-inch piece of felt
  • 20, 8-inch by 10-inch pieces of colored felt
  • Scissors
  • Tape measure
  • Fabric paint
  • Paint brush
  • Fabric pen
  • 60 snaps
  • Thread and needle
    • 1
Cover the front of the bulletin board in a single piece of felt. Remove wrinkles and tightly wrap the board with the felt.
    • 2
Staple all sides of the material onto the back of the cork board with a staple gun. If the back of the board includes a hanger, do not cover the hanger with felt.
    • 3
Trim excess felt material from the back side of the cork board with scissors.
    • 4
Paint a grid of seven columns and five rows in the middle of the felt.
    • 5
Paint the days of the week across the top of the grid.
    • 6
Cut out 31 squares to fit inside the grid you painted on the felt, using a tape measure to ensure each square is the same size. Paint the numbers 1 to 31 on the squares.
    • 7
Sew small snaps onto all 35 squares in the grid and to the backs of the number squares. Sew snaps onto the top center of the grid for the months.
    • 8
Decorate 12, 8-inch by 5-inch felt pieces with different months and sew on snaps to the backs. Each month should be spelled out and decorated with paint and embellishments. For example, November can include a turkey and cornucopia to signify Thanksgiving.
    • 9
Pin on the number squares to display the current month.
