How to Make Head Signs in 'IMVU'

,
When you become an IMVU creator, a head sign is one of the many products you can create. The head sign is a message that appears above an avatar's head on a profile page or chat room, an entertaining way to dress up your character on this social networking site. Use your 2-D paint program and the tools in your IMVU creator account to make a basic head sign for your product catalog.

Instructions

Things You'll Need

  • 2D paint program

Log in to your IMVU account and click the "Shop" link in the menu bar. Type "derivable head sign" in the Search Catalog text field, and press the "Enter" key to find a design you want to modify. Click the item you want and copy the product ID number that appears at the bottom of the page.

Click the "Create" button in the menu bar. Then click the "Derive New Products" box that displays. Paste the product ID in the Specify Product ID text field, and click the "Derive" button in the bottom to load an avatar and control panel in the Editor window.

Launch your 2D paint program and create a new file in the same size as your derivable product (for example, 512 x 256). Use the texture tools to create a layer with a black background and a layer with a white background. Enter your head sign message in the layer with the white background, and work with the text tools to color your font white and apply the typeface and effects you desire. Save each layer as a JPG or PNG file.

Return to the IMVU Editor page. Click the "Edit" button in the texture box under the Texture Assets section and select your file with the black background. Your head sign now displays above the avatar on the left side of the Editor window.
