How to Modify WRL in SolidWorks

,
SolidWorks, a computer-aided design application, lets you import models saved in various file formats, including virtual reality modeling language files. VRML files are typically saved with the WRL extension. To edit WRL files in SolidWorks, first import them into a program by following a specific procedure.

Instructions

    • 1
Launch SolidWorks, click on the "Open" icon, select "VRML" and click on "Options."
    • 2
Select "STL/VRML" from the left-hand pane.
    • 3
Choose the type of body you wish to assign to the model. You can select between "Graphics Body," an option that only imports graphical data, "Solid Body," which imports the model as a solid object, or "Surface Body," which imports it as surfaces.
    • 4
Select the measurement units you wish to use from the drop-down menu and click "OK."
    • 5
Use the file browser to locate the WRL file on your hard drive, click "Open" and edit your SolidWorks model.
