How to Open a .CPH File

A file with a ".cph" extension is a Corel Print House file. Corel Print House is a desktop publishing application for the home user that facilitates the design of printed designs such as greeting cards, banners and calendars. A CPH file can be opened in several ways, but the easiest method requires having Corel Print House installed on your computer. If the computer attempts to open a CPH file using a non-compatible program, you can change the default opener to Corel Print House or browse the Web for a program that supports this format. Another option is to use a free graphics-viewing application.

     Double-click on the CPH file. Windows will open it with Corel Print House if this software is installed on your computer.

     Right-click on the file and choose “Open With” from the drop-down menu. Click “Choose Default Program” and click “Browse.” Click “Corel Print House” from the list of applications displayed. Click “Open.”

     Navigate to the CPH file in Windows Explorer. While pressing the “Shift” key on your keyboard, select “Open With” in the pop-up window. Click the Corel Print House program.

   Changing the File Association

     Click “Start” and then click “Explore.” Click on the folder containing the CPH file.

     Right-click the file and choose “Open With” from the context menu. Select Corel Print House if it appears in the list of applications. You can also click “Browse” and select Print House from your program files. Alternately, search online for a program capable of opening the CPH file by clicking on “Look for the appropriate program on the Web.”

     Click “Always use this program to open this kind of file.” Click “OK.”

     Navigate to a website that offers free graphic file conversion and viewing software. XnView, a free graphics viewer, opens over 400 graphic file formats, including CPH files. This program works with Windows, MacOS X and Linux operating systems. Click “Download.” Click the “Download” button next to the current version of XnView to commence the download.

     Click “Next” in the XnView setup wizard dialogue. Agree to the terms and click “Next.” Select the desired installation folder for the program and click “Next.”

     Name the file shortcut and click “Next.” Click “Next” after selecting any additional icons, such as “Desktop.” Click “Install” and then click “Finish.”

     Launch XnView. Choose your configuration options and click “OK.” Click “File” on the XnView toolbar. Browse your folders and click the folder containing the file you want to view. Your files will appear in XnView’s main window. Click the file with the ".cph" extension to open it.
