Files generated by the Adobe program PageMaker 6.5 are assigned the P65 file extension. PageMaker facilitates the creation of literature for professional purposes. Users are provided with a variety of pre-designed layouts and graphics, which may be combined in a range of combinations to create unique pieces for publication.
Programs
- The P65 file extension is only generated by Adobe PageMaker. The program was designed and is sold by Adobe, and can be purchased directly from the company or through computer software vendors. P65 files are created by version 6.5 of Adobe PageMaker, though version 7 is also compatible with the file extension.
Creation
- Whenever a user creates a project in Adobe PageMaker 6.5, her work is automatically saved in P65 form. The file extension is the default for the program, so a user does not need to actively create the file -- PageMaker does the work for her when she clicks "Save." If opened in a newer version of PageMaker, the file may save in a different file extension format.
Contents
- The contents of a P65 file include all of the data entered in a PageMaker project. PageMaker is aimed at businesses, and can be use used to create publication materials such as newsletters, brochures or cards. The P65 file associated with a project stores all of the images, color, layout and text information related to the project.
Opening P65 Files
- The last version of Adobe PageMaker created was version 7. Adobe replaced the program with Adobe InDesign, which is compatible with PageMaker files, including the P65 extension. At the time of publication, owners of PageMaker who want to upgrade to InDesign can do so for less than $200. Like PageMaker, InDesign software is available from the Adobe website or various software vendors.
