P7x files on your computer, including .p7$, .p7- and .p73 files, are unknown file extensions. In other words, Windows doesn't recognize the file type, and it can't locate the program that created the file. If you have a .p73 file on your computer and you are unable to open it, your only options are to figure out which program created the file or find an alternative program capable of opening the file.
Instructions
- 1Double-click the file. Windows will attempt to locate a program to open the file. If it can find a program, you may be presented with an option to open the file in that program.
- 2Install a program that is capable of opening the file. In order to locate a suitable program, you'll need to have some idea of what file type the .P73 file is. For example, a photo editing program can usually open most image files. If you don't know the type of file, trace the file back to its origin. For example, if you received the file via email, the sender of the file should be able to tell you what program created the file or what file type it is. If you downloaded the file from a website, contact the site's administrator for information about the file.
- 3Run a scan to fix your Windows registry if you are certain that you have the software on your computer to open the file. An inability to open a file could be a sign that your Windows registry is corrupted. There are many third-party programs available to scan and fix your Windows registry, including software from PC Utilities Pro, PC Tools and RegSofts+Software.
