The MMS.apk file on your Android smartphone corresponds to the multimedia messaging application that you use to send MMS picture and video messages. In some instances, updated system applications are leaked from newer operating system updates before the OS updates are public, and hobbyists like to install the updated apps on their Android phones. If you have an updated or edited MMS.apk file that you wish to install over the existing app you use to send MMS messages, you can do so by following a few steps.
Instructions
- 1Tap the "menu" button on your Android phone, and then tap the "Settings" option.
- 2Tap the "Applications" option.
- 3Enable the check mark next to "Unknown sources" by tapping on it. This allows you to install applications from sources outside of the Android Market, and is necessary to complete the process.
- 4Open the MMS.apk application, either from a website, from an email message (if it was sent to you as an attachment) or from the storage on your phone (if you transferred it there yourself).
- 5Tap the "Yes" button when the dialog box that asks, "MMS.apk already exists. Would you like to overwrite it?" appears.
- 6Restart your Android smartphone after the installation.
