How to Create a Template for iPages

The iPages program, a word processing computer application by Apple, makes it possible to create word processing templates using simple drag-and-drop procedures. To set up your template, you will need to drag images into a document and arrange other document elements as needed. Making a template will save you time moving forward, since you won't have to create a new document theme every time you need create a report or presentation. By learning how to create your own templates, you can create original and rich documents to share with your readers.

Instructions

      Create a new document in iPages by opening the program and select the "File" menu and "New Document."

      Set up the heading of your template by double-clicking at the top of the page and entering any information you want to include in your document.

      Apply a picture to the front page, by dragging an image from your desktop to the center of the iPages template. iPages allows you to position graphics simply by dragging them and placing them in the location you like.

      Add other elements to the template that you need using the "Insert" command. You can insert a table of contents, anchors to specific pages, date and time stamps or automatically retrieve the file name of the document to use as a title.

      Click "Save as Template" from the "File" menu when you are finished editing your document. This will save your document as a template file, which means that when you open the document in the future, iPages will create a new document based on your template without overwriting your original template file.
