How to Open a .Cry File

The file extension .CRY is used by an application called CryENGINE 3. This application was created by Crytek, the development team behind the first-person video gaming series Crysis. CryENGINE 3 provides the tools necessary to create custom maps, and saves data as .CRY files. You can open and modify any .CRY files on your hard disk using CryENGINE 3. If you do not have CryENGINE 3 installed, you can get it for free from MyCryEngine.com.

     Download the CryENGINE 3 SDK from MyCryEngine.com. After downloading, click “Open” and follow the instructions on the CryENGINE 3 Setup to install CryENGINE 3.

     Right-click a .CRY file and select “Open With.”

     Select the “CryENGINE 3” option from the list under “Recommended Programs.”
