How to Open an XRF File

,
The XRF file extension identifies files that contain instructions for XLReportGen. This reporting program is a component of Excel that generates reports based on data in Excel spreadsheets. The instructions in any XRF files on your computer give XLReportGen directions on creating a report, using the original Excel file as a template. The XRF file identifies the template, names the report and gives XLReportGen the data sources and parameters for the report. If you have XLReportGen, opening XRF files should be simple.

Instructions

    • 1
Download XLReportGen and install it. You can use the program to create, open or save an XRF file.
    • 2
Click "Open" on the File menu. This brings up the "Look In" list; use it to locate the drive or file folder containing the file you want. Go into the drive or the folder, click on the file, then press "Open." The XRF file should open on your screen.
    • 3
Scan your Windows Registry if your XRF file refuses to open. The registry is a central repository that tracks software installed on your computer: Problems with the registry can keep programs from operating properly. Use free registry scanning tools -- available from Microsoft and other companies -- to spot the problem, then repair it and try once more to open your XRF.
