VSX, which stands for Visio Stencil XML, is a file format used to store certain drawings and shapes for templates created by Microsoft Visio. You can use Microsoft Visio to open any VSX files on your hard drive. If you do not have Microsoft Visio installed, you can use a free application called Microsoft Visio Viewer to open VSX files.

Microsoft Visio
- 1Open Microsoft Visio from the "Start" menu.
- 2Click the “File” tab on the top right-side of the Microsoft Visio window.
- 3Select the “Open” option on the drop-down pane.
- 4Select the VSX file that you want to open.
- 5Click the “Open” button to view the VSX file.
Microsoft Visio Viewer
- 6Download the Microsoft Visio Viewer Setup from Microsoft.com.
- 7Execute the Microsoft Visio Viewer Setup and follow the onscreen instructions to install Microsoft Visio Viewer.
- 8Double-click a VSX file to view it in Microsoft Visio Viewer.
