How to Open a SFCACHE File

,
When you open a Flash memory device on your Windows computer, you might see an SFCACHE file. This file indicates that the Flash device has previously been used by Windows' ReadyBoost system to speed up a computer. The information in the file is encrypted. Windows opens the SFCACHE file as necessary to boost a computer's performance.

Instructions

    • 1
Insert a Flash memory device into an open USB port on your computer.
    • 2
Click "Speed Up My System" in the Autoplay menu.
    • 3
Click "ReadyBoost" and "Use This Device."
    • 4
Click "OK" to create an SFCACHE file. Windows will open and use the file when your computer's internal processor runs low on memory.
